Twitter index: Windows 8 launches, Tumblr down
Microsoft launched Windows 8 on October 25 along with its new tablet the Microsoft Surface. The new touchscreen-compatible operating system is being heralded as a departure from previous Windows models and places a focus on "tiles," different colored boxes displayed on the screen through which users can launch applications and see real-time updates from social networking sites.
Aside from the first-place promoted tweet "#Windows8," Twitter users are sharing reviews of the new operating system, causing "Windows 8" to trend in tenth position.
Also causing a stir is popular photo-driven blogging site Tumblr. Twitter users are alerting others to the technical difficulties the site seems to be experiencing, trending "Tumblr Is Down" in seventh position. Visitors to tumblr.com have been greeted with the following error message: "We're Sorry. Service is temporarily unavailable. Our engineers are working quickly to resolve the issue."
