Twitter index: Obama, Romney quip at Al Smith Dinner
The annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner is a white tie charity fundraiser thrown by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Thursday night's Dinner saw President Obama and Republican presidential candidate Romney take some time off from their campaigns to mock themselves, each other and Joe Biden.
Among stand-out moments of the speeches, Romney, wearing a white tie, stated, "A campaign can require a lot of wardrobe changes -- blue jeans in the morning perhaps, suits for lunch fundraisers, a sport coat for dinner. But it's nice to finally relax and to wear what Ann and I wear around the house." Obama referenced the infamous Clint Eastwood stand-up routine at this year's Republican conference, stating "Everyone please take your seats. Otherwise Clint Eastwood will yell at them."
Twitter users are discussing highlights from the event under the trending topic "Al Smith" and numerous videos of the event are available on YouTube (goo.gl/RiaKj, goo.gl/auSPM, goo.gl/2oAAO).
