Twitter index: Lance Armstrong stripped of medals

The decision by cycling's governing body, the UCI or International Cycling Union,  follows on from an report from the US Anti Doping Authority (USADA) that Armstrong refused to fight. The USADA had called on Armstrong to be stripped of his titles and accused him of leading a massive doping program on his teams.

Representatives of Armstrong, who also recently stepped down as chairman of the Livestrong charity he founded, have not yet released a comment on the matter.

The news of Armstrong's continued disgrace accounts for two trending topics on Twitter today, the seventh placed "La UCI" and ninth placed "Tour de France."

Also on Twitter today female microbloggers are joining in with the topic "ReasonsIFailAtBeingAGirl" and giving a shout out to other Twitter users they believe are worthy of following.
