Twitter index: Jai Brooks, Bieber, Gomez and 1D

Two of today's trending topics, first placed "#FollowMeJai" and sixth placed "Jai," relate to Jai Brooks (@JaiBrooks1). Seventeen-year-old Brooks is a member of YouTube sensations the Janoskians -- a comedy group of young Australian kids who made a name for themselves pulling stunts and uploading them to the web.  

On August 17 Jai Brooks pledged to do a "follow spree" to some of those who tweeted #FollowMeJai, apprently following over 400 people in an hour.

Another celebrity-based trending topic is  "#WorldRecordAttemptsByTurkishDirectioners," which relates to fans in Turkey of the British-Irish boy band One Direction who are trying to break Twitter records with re-tweets.

Turkish fans of Justin Bieber are trending "Bieber Come To Turkey," while fans of Bieber's girlfriend, singer Selena Gomez, are trending "Selena Is The Definition Of Perfection."

Tenth placed trending topic "Manchester United" refers to the English Premier League club, which concluded the signing of Dutch player Robin Van Persie from rival club Arsenal on Thursday.
