Former Baltimore Ravens owner Art Modell died on Thursday aged 87. He was the owner of the Cleveland Browns, which became the Ravens after moving to Baltimore in 1996, served as president of the NFL from 1967-1969 and, in 1968, chaired the negotiations for the first collective bargaining agreement with the players. Modell was also influential in negotiating the contract between the NFL and ABC television to televise games on Monday nights.

Microbloggers are also celebrating the 69th birthday of legendary British musician Roger Waters. Waters is best known for his role in 1970s band Pink Floyd, which produced such seminal albums as Dark Side of the Moon and has sold in excess of 250 million albums around the world to date.
