It virtually created the genre, but Samsung will add fuel to the fire under phablets with the issuing of a monster smartphone-cum-tablet; the third generation of its hit handset, the Galaxy Note.

It's seen the dragging back from history's gadget graveyard of the stylus in the form of the slick S-Pen, though if rumours from The Korea Times are to be believed this iteration will balloon from 5.5-inch to 6.3-inch -- now that's a mighty leap forwards in terms of screen real estate.

Beloved of business users wanting to convert scribbles into type, the Galaxy Note III could also feature a flexible display in the form of an OLED (organic light emitting diode) screen identical to that on the table for use in the Galaxy S IV. Also on the cards for the Note 3 is a 13-megapixel+ rear camera and a quad core processor.
