Displayed at one too many trade shows to be taken seriously during 2012 and previously promised to be with us by now, we nevertheless expect LG soon start to sell its 55-inch 55EM960V soon --€“ the first bigscreen organic light emitting diode (OLED) TV has already gone on sale in Korea.

Just 4mm slim, the 55EM960V weights 10kg and comes equipped with LG's Cinema 3D system and dual core processor-fuelled smart TV apps, but it's the OLED panel's luscious contrast, black levels and a response time that's said to be 100 times faster than a regular LED-backlit LCD TV that will grace home cinemas.

Not surprisingly, the 55EM960V is designed for mounting on a wall and connects wirelessly to a separate inputs box, though a variant, the 55EM970V, will put all electronics and tuners in a fixed desktop stand.

Hot on the heels of the release of LG's 84-inch 84LM960V --€“ the first 'ultra' or 4K HD telly (which has a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels).
