Apple iPad mini Retina
Apple's first stab at a small 7.9-inch tablet has the form factor, but lacks the Retina display of the latest full-size iPad.
Will we see an iPad Mini with Retina in 2013? Probably -- though the current model has the same resolution as the iPad 2, so upping the resolution to a Retina display could mean app developers having to code new versions of their apps.
Having a Retina display would also require a faster processor and a bigger battery, though theoretical hardware limitations like that haven't stopped Apple thus far.
Either way, a second-generation iPad mini seems likely in the summer, though probably without a '2' moniker; Apple's traditional naming convention for its iPads seem to have gone the way of Ping. And with Apple's line-up of iMacs just refreshed, the iPad mini could be the only outing in 2013 on a new product for the brand's flagship Retina display.
