The wait is finally over.

Starting from $668 (32GB), the Microsoft Surface RT (with Windows RT) will officially be retailing islandwide in Singapore starting today 5 April at Challenger Funan.

Customers who purchase the Microsoft Surface RT there on its retail launch day today will receive a $100 Challenger voucher and a 10,400 mAh Valore Powerbank (worth $109).

The Microsoft Surface RT will also be available at 19 other Challenger outlets from Saturday, 6 April onwards. In addition, Microsoft Surface accessories such as touch covers, type covers, touch mice and adaptors will be available at the same outlets, ranging from $58 to $183.

Microsoft lifted the veil off their inaugural tablet in June last year, giving us a glimpse of their latest family of tablets created to show off Microsoft’s new Window 8 operating system experience. The hushed nature of its unveiling created tremendous buzz and speculation over the ultrabook-like tablet PC.

Taking a leap into a new category of devices, the Surface tablet promises to offer “the best of a tablet and a PC”, said Panos Panay, corporate vice president, Microsoft Surface. The product aims to offer the user both productivity and mobility in a single device, bolstered by the Windows 8 experience.

Working exclusively with apps available at the Windows Store, some of them will be Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, OneNote, Channel NewsAsia, Fotoroom, ESPN FC and Angry Birds Star Wars..

Contemplating if you should get your hands on a Surface RT? Here’s a look at what this latest Microsoft device has to offer.
