Google+ trends: Montreal earthquake, National Novel Writing Month
In the early hours of Wednesday morning local time a small earthquake, measuring about 4.5 (or 3.9 according to varying reports) on the Richter scale, struck outside of Montreal; so far no serious damage or casualties have been reported.
Google+ users are sharing, among other things, a picture of garden furniture lying on its side with the caption "Montreal Earthquake 2012 - We Will Rebuild," news reports of the quake and comments such as "Really #Montreal? I mistake a truck driving by for a M3.9 earthquake," posted by Jamie Jarabek in San Francisco.
Also causing excitement on the social network Wednesday is National Novel Writing Month, abbreviated to NaNoWriMo. The US event challenges participants to begin writing a novel on November 1 and to have completed a 50,000 word manuscript by November 30.
Despite that fact that it's only October 10, many Google+ users are already signing up for the event and discussing how they plan to prepare for the month of intensive writing. For more information, or to sign up to National Novel Writing Month, see nanowrimo.org.
