Twitter index: Shinee wins Golden Disk Award, Lance Armstrong interview

The Golden Disk Awards are held annually and organized by the Music Industry Association of Korea for outstanding achievement in the South Korean music industry. This year one of the most coveted awards, the Popularity Award, went to South Korean R&B group Shinee, whose last EP, "Sherlock," was released in 2012.

Elsewhere on Twitter microbloggers are talking about Lance Armstrong, who, in a pre-recorded interview with Oprah Winfrey, is alleged to have confessed to the doping allegations that have dogged him throughout his career. Though the interview is still to be broadcast, "inside sources" have contacted several media outlets, including the New York Times, to apparently reveal the contents of Armstrong's interview, and Winfrey appeared on CBS's "This Morning" on Tuesday, saying "I think the most important questions and the answers that people around the world have been waiting to hear were answered."

Also trending on Twitter is high street entertainment retailer HMV, which has announced that it is going into administration after 91 years of business.

Former player for English Premier League team Manchester City Michael Johnson is also causing a stir on Twitter after finally being released from the club.  At age 18, Johnson was at one point tipped to be an England international but now, in a career blighted by alcohol and having not played for City since 2009, Johnson has finally been let go by the club.
