BMW’s EfficientDynamics programme has now been going for more than a decade, and is arguably responsible for mainstream acceptance of all kinds of fuel-saving technology – including stop-start, brake-energy recuperation and active aerodynamics.

All of the above have had a significant impact on the amount of fuel our cars consume and the CO2 they emit. But BMW isn’t done yet. EfficientDynamics is an ongoing programme of improvement, and we visited the German premium marque’s Miramas test facility in France to find out what’s coming next.
