1913: The start of Aston Martin

Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin: it was thus originally called "Bamford & Martin Ltd"€™. The name Aston Martin was adopted in 1914 following a run by Martin up "€˜Aston Hill"€™ in Buckinghamshire: the first Aston Martin, called "Coal Scuttle"€™ was built in 1915.
