Apple officially previews iOS 6 at WWDC
Attendees at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) were given a preview of some of the more than 200 features in iOS 6, the next-generation software for Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Some of the most anticipated features in the new OS include a totally redesigned native Maps app with 3D Flyovers and turn-by-turn directions, a smarter Siri with added local support, deep Facebook integration, VIP Mail and better web browsing on Safari, a “do not disturb” feature and phone-back reminders, and improved accessibility for people with vision, hearing, learning and mobility disabilities.

Apple unveils slimmer, lighter MacBook Pro with Retina display
Apple unveiled a brand new 15” MacBook Pro laptop with a super-high-resolution Retina display, a slimmer and lighter design, and faster quad-core processors. The laptop measures in at just 1.8 centimeters thick (almost as thin as the MacBook Air) and weighs 2.02 kilograms. Its display has over 5 million pixels -- 3 million more pixels than an HDTV.

More details about Mac OS X Mountain Lion revealed
Apple revealed that Mac OS X Mountain Lion -- the ninth major release of its desktop operating system (OS) -- will be arriving in the Mac App store in July priced at just $19.99. The OS sports more than 200 new features, the most noticeable of which include the Notification Center, a universal Messages app, Dictation, Facebook integration, AirPlay Mirroring, Power Nap, Game Center and the Gatekeeper security feature.

Companies vie for top-level domains
ICANN revealed the list of companies which had applied for some of the more than 1,000 new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) due to arrive on the web in 2013. Amazon, Google, and Microsoft were among the companies and organizations who had applied to control gTLDs such as .app, .android, .art, .book, .dog, .google, .love, .map, .meme, .movie, and .shop.

Nokia to cut jobs and sell luxury phone arm Vertu
Nokia announced that it will cut 10,000 jobs globally, close factories in Finland and sell off its luxury phone brand Vertu to private equity group EQT VI. “This is harder than we thought and we’re having to make deeper changes,” Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said during a conference call announcing the overhaul.
