Samsung Electronics' official launch of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone finally hit Singapore's shores yesterday. Long lines were spotted late last night outside Paragon's M1 Operator and other local flagship telco stores, where eager customers queued up to get their hands on pre-ordered Galaxy S3 smartphone sets.

Others patiently waited in line to register their interest in being one of the first in Singapore to purchase the latest Samsung Galaxy S phone. The smartphone begins its official sale today, in all 3 local telcos: SingTel, Starhub and M1.

Since last year's release of the successful Samsung Galaxy S2 which generated 20 million sales worldwide, there has been a huge buzz over the timing of S3 launch. Akin to Apple's tease-like campaigns, Samsung has adopted a similar secretive approach prior to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3. With an earlier launch, Samsung aims to increase its lead over Apple months ahead of its new iPhone launch, which is expected in the third quarter of this year.
