iPad and iPad Mini both best in class for battery life

In the 9.4-inch+ category, the Apple iPad with Retina Display managed 811 minutes of web browsing via wi-fi -- 221 minutes more than its closest competitor, the Apple iPad 2. The Sony Xperia Tablet S took third place, managing a respectable 534 minutes, some four hours less than the iPad, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 coming fourth (532 minutes) and the Microsoft Surface RT fifth with 501 minutes.

In the 7.9-inch or smaller category, Apple again won by quite a margin. The iPad Mini performing for 783 minutes, over three hours longer than its closest rival, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, which managed 591 minutes, putting it in second place, just ahead of the Google Nexus 7 (550 minutes).

According to its website, the Which? battery life tests were done of "Web browsing over wi-fi, over 3G (if relevant) and for video playback" with screen brightness at 200 nits." They also tested "how long the battery takes to fully recharge."
