Five years in the history of the iPhone
The history of the iPhone: back to the future

Unless Apple unveils something truly radical for its next iPhone, Google's market share will grow ever greater. In five years, Apple has sold 250 million iPhones for $150 billion. But 59% of smartphones sold now are Androids, compared to 35% for iOS. And with HTC and the Samsung Galaxy SII and SIII, Android phones aren't just winning over developing countries, but also Europe and the US too. What do we want to see from the ultimate iPhone 5? Apple going back to its keep-it-simple-stupid roots: a much longer battery life; a much quicker, better camera that rivals compacts; a smarter app store that can spot what you'd like to do... here's to iPhone dreaming.
