In light of last week's selling-out of the new Redmi smartphone by Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, we list the other top alternative budget smartphones that are available in Singapore
This budget baby was sold out within eight minutes of its launch last Friday, and for good reason. The recent hype surrounding Xiaomi’s latest budget smartphone, Redmi, sparked off when the Chinese smartphone company announced its debut price and official launch day last week.
So what can you expect from a phone priced at $169? The phone runs on a modified version of Android OS Jelly Bean, and is powered by a quad-core of 1.5Ghz. It also has an 8-megapixel, F2.2 aperture rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera and 4GB of ROM flash memory, which is expandable up to 32GB. Only 69mm thick, this sleek phone weighs in at 158g and has a 4.7-inch 720P IPS display. Not bad at all.
