Can the Microsoft Surface tablet topple the iPad?

Microsoft Surface v iPad

There's only one question that really matters when a new tablet is launched: is it better than the iPad? Up until now, no single product has been able to muster a genuine challenge.

In a report released recently by market research firm IDC, it was predicted the iPad series of tablets will increase its share of the tablet market to 62.5% this year. That leaves all its many and varied competitors scrabbling around for just one third of the market.

Most of those competitors are currently Android tablets, but Microsoft has now entered the market with a big splash. Its announcement of the new Surface family of tablets sees it going head-to-head with Apple in the tablet market. But can it succeed? We stack Microsoft's Surface up against Apple's latest iPad to see how the two compare.

Software improvement to next version of windows could have the following recommendaion added like : -

1) automatically tweak the system to its best performance as windows will try to detect the PC where it was installed and it will go through some series of check on the system with the sliding bar moving before the windows is set and runned in the kind of performace that suite the PC that you run the windows with.

2) adding of new firewall which the idea comes from suh thinking that instead of the ipsec method where the data will be like a pipe where theare are blokage around to block away data that is not allowed to come in but as a improvement to such system where a second pipeline to drain away the datas that is not allowed to some place where the mainstream pipeline where normal data can move smoothly.

3) The autodection of new devices that is atached to windows via USB etc which this data is also stored in windows databases of new devices so that any reinstall of damaged windows could bring this item back to work immidiately wothout the hassle to look for further drivers etc.

etc

Whatever the figure shown in market share by research firm is based on the tablets sold yesterday.

Just look at the point of why are you needed the tablet ? If just for go to surf internet for video, shopping, visit web, GPS etc. The new iPad or upcoming iPad mini able to handle well,

but if you are needed to handle office documents and able to communicate direct to you computer at home or office may not doing well.

The upcoming Micresoft Surface with Windows RT OS and ARM processor or Surface Pro with Windows 8 and Intel / AMD x86 processor may able to handle well.

I am here forecast that the market share for the next 14 months, Apple will be down from 62.5% to 45% or less for tablet segment.
