PS4, eighth-generation console unleashed at New York Event

As expected, Sony took the covers off of the PlayStation (PS4), at its high-profile event in New York on Wednesday evening.

Taking to the stage to address the world watching worldwide on a live stream, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House stated that the PS4 launch was “a moment of truth and a bold step forward”.

He said that the vision of Sony for the PS4 was for it to be the most consumer-centric games console, with unified hardware/software and networking platforms.

“The PS4 has the gamer as the focal point,” he said. “It’s the most personalised gaming system…and the most powerful platform ever.”
