Ted Williams, an American voiceover artist, was homeless when he was spotted by happenstance along a roadside by an Ohio newspaper reporter, Doral Chenoweth. Williams was holding up a handwritten advertisement of his voice and a request for donations. During the interview, Williams demonstrated his voice with an impressive radio station promo improvisation, and ended with a short interview where Williams elaborated on his education, alcohol and drug problems that led to his homelessness.

After this video was posted on YouTube, Williams' story quickly garnered attention on various social news websites with viewers pledging money, clothes, and numerous voice-over job offers. The Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball team even offered him a job and a home, to which Williams described as "the best deal ever!"
