Electrolux Design Lab semi-finalists announced

The 30 semi-finalists for the Electrolux Design Lab 2012 have been announced, a competition that challenges designers to come up with gadget concepts to "engage our senses in new and interesting ways".

Sure, some of them might be bonkers. Some of them might challenge the capabilities of today's technology. But this isn't about reality - this is about future-gazing, with a generous helping of imagination.

With entries coming from across the five continents, the competition - now in its 10th year - will soon be whittled down to just ten concepts, whose designers will compete in a final to win a six-month internship at Electrolux's global design centre and 5,000 Euros.
