Nasa's robotic rover Curiosity landed on the surface of Mars on 6 August 2012. Staff at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory tweeted the craft's successful descent onto the red planet. "No comment needed. Entry minus 3 minutes" tweeted Steven Lee, one of the team, along with a picture. Curiosity has already sent back astonishing pictures and information from Mars. It will continue to function for at least two years.
