'Witcher 2' video highlights effect of player choice
Verdant green pathways and serene dwellings are contrasted with miserable scenes of dereliction and destruction, while main character Geralt is greeted by different companions -- or, in sadder situations, not at all.
"One of the game's acts tells a completely different story based on the decisions you made earlier," explains Jonas Mattsson, one of the level artists who had worked on the game.
The Witcher 2's various merits were frequently referred to in end-of-year award discussions, alongside those of fellow action-oriented role-playing games The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Dark Souls.
It was originally released for PC in May 2011, with a regular flow of game updates and expansions, before an Xbox 360 conversion was produced for April 2012.
The developer of the game, CD Projekt Red, has announced a live Summer Conference for May 30 from 5pm GMT and is promising a "major announcement."
