The whisperings can be traced to BroGamer, a Tumblr blog that sources its news from an unnamed games industry professional and maintains that there is a "degree of credibility" to the comments.

Ellen Page was previously inspiration for Ellie, a companion character in PlayStation 3 project The Last of Us, but the role was eventually filled by Ashley Johnson (Gwen Tennyson in Ben 10, Amber Ahmed in The Killing).
