"Mario Kart Wii U" and a new 3D Mario action title, provisionally called "Yoshi Wii U," will be presented and playable at E3, with the studio behind "Super Mario Galaxy" and "Super Mario 3D Land" on the job for the Yoshi game.

With Nintendo president Satoru Iwata at the helm of the presentation, and "Zelda" game director Eiji Aonuma appearing to talk about his hallmark series, there was not much more than a sliver of information to be had on an entirely new, untitled "Zelda" entry for the Wii U, save for the fact that it would rethink several traditional conventions such as linear structure and lack of multiplayer.

Instead, Aonuma confirmed that cherished GameCube legacy title "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker" was indeed coming to Nintendo's newest console as "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Wii U."

Nintendo has previously benefited from re-introducing a classic name on modern hardware, having delivered a slick remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," one of the most highly rated games of all time, to the portable Nintendo 3DS. That move proved a huge success, turning the stuttering portable into an instant must-have for many video game fans.
