The series is known for its adorable, approachable nature, but should they wish to delve deeper, players can find a satisfyingly technical game -- the sort of thing more commonly associated with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour titles.

As for Hot Shots Golf 6, it started life as a launch title for the PlayStation Vita, first in Japan as Minna No Golf 6, then later on in North America and in Europe (as Everybody's Golf 6).

And while the upcoming PlayStation 3 version has not been confirmed for overseas release, series fans will be hoping that it enjoys a successful migration.

On show were the console version's new Slot Mode, which shakes things up with randomized rules for multiplayer parties, as well as online play between those golfing on PS3 and the game's Vita crew.

Intriguingly, and as part of the Cross-Buy campaign that sells gamers on the appeal of owning both PlayStation 3 and portable Vita, owners of Minna No Golf 6 on one machine will be able to purchase it on the other for ¥2,000, saving up to 60% on the retail price.

Furthermore, the release has been deemed significant enough to become part of a new bundle for the PlayStation 3's latest model, the Super Slim, which is a smaller and lighter version of the existing PlayStation 3 console.
