Minecraft convention 2012 to be held in Europe
Mojang's Lydia Winters confirmed the news via the Minecraft studio's blog, indicating that the company hopes to ink a deal for the convention's European location in the coming week.
The Las Vegas event took place in November 2011, with four thousand five hundred tickets going on sale early August and selling out with three weeks left.
Themed parties, talks, Q&A sessions, and displays from other developers surrounded the full release of Minecraft, a block building, exploration and survival game for home computer systems.
By then, it had already sold 4 million copies to those willing to pay a reduced price in return for a regularly updated work-in-progress.
Both Minecraft's graphical style and funding model were influential upon a host of similar titles.
Notable among them was Terraria, likened to a 2D Minecraft mixed with the classic platforming of Ghouls'n Ghosts, as well as the Xbox 360 downloads that preceeded Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition's eventual introduction: Castleminer Z, Total Miner: Forge and FortressCraft Chapter 1 among them.
Others adopted a similar aesthetic but headed for pastures new, such as free online first person shooter Ace of Spades and space trading game Blockade Runner.
