'Kentucky Route Zero,' 'Cart Life,' 'Little Inferno' lead IGF Award finalists
"Kentucky Route Zero" is described by its development team of two as "a magical realist adventure about a secret highway in the caves beneath Kentucky," citing classics such as "The Secret of Monkey Island," "King's Quest," and 2012's adaptation of "The Walking Dead" as inspirations.
The first of five planned episodes is already available on Mac and Windows and has seen it place as a finalist for excellence in Visual Art, Narrative and Audio, as well as for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize.
Close behind it with three categories apiece are "Cart Life," a detailed retail simulation about life as a street vendor, and "Little Inferno," one of the Wii U's first downloadable titles (also available on PC), whose touching story is woven between incidents of fireplace tomfoolery.
