Ex-'Call of Duty' man to support $99 Android-powered Ouya console with new game
The Ouya games machine, which runs on the same Android operating system that powers a growing number of smartphones, has become the second-highest grossing project of all time on fundraising website Kickstarter -- and that's with three weeks of wallet wrangling to go.
Bowling's game studio Robotoki took the opportunity to make a prequel for post-apocalyptic title Human Element, and to make it exclusive to the Ouya console.
Human Element is set 35 years after a zombie apocalypse, in a world where fellow survivors are a player's greatest strength and biggest threat -- but is not due on traditional console, PC and tablet platforms until 2015; Human Element's Ouya prequel is to serve as an episodic preview of the full game's potential.
The console's target launch date of March 2013 means that its arrival is placed between the Nintendo Wii U's late 2012 debut and the expected release of new Xbox and PlayStation consoles toward the back end of 2013.
