'Chronicle' director in the frame for 'Shadow of the Colossus'

The game tells the story of a young warrior who makes a pact with the supernatural in order to save the life of his female companion.

During an experience both atmospheric and straightforward, players gradually unravel their hero's folly. One by one, he topples sixteen foreboding colossi designed to keep a lurking evil at bay.

Under Trank's guidance, February box office hit Chronicle saw a $123 million return for its meager $15 million budget -- a feat that saw him associated with the Venom and Fantastic Four projects.

Now, the self-confessed video game fan has the task of bringing the pared-down, powerful Shadow of the Colossus to cinema.

Shadow of the Colossus was a challenging project for its game development team which, in 2005, managed to bring it to life on the then-aging PlayStation 2; it was reissued for PlayStation 3 in September 2011.
