First trailer for Gibson-esque 'Cyberpunk 2077'

Based on the works of author William Gibson, just as the pen and paper games "Cyberpunk 2013" and "Cyberpunk 2020" had been, "Cyberpunk 2077" envisions a world where implants aren't just silicone but silicon chip as well.

But for some, these cyborg implants become an obsession, and a destructive madness ensues. That's where the trailer's Psycho Squad comes in: a tactical division entrusted with neutralizing these haywire humans and, it would seem, recruiting the best of them in the fight against cybercrime.

Themes of transhumanism are no stranger to the video game arena, with "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" and "Binary Domain" among those exploring cyberpunk subjects most recently, as well as the upcoming "Remember Me" (May 2013 on 360 and PS3) and "Shadowrun Returns" (early summer 2013 on PC, Mac, Linux).

CD Projekt Red's distinction comes from its work on two games in the series The Witcher, based on stories written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Like Valve, which created the Half-Life and Portal series and runs the Steam Network store, and Paradox, the strategy genre specialist that set up the GamersGate digital distribution service, CD Projekt Red also operates the online store GOG, which sells both classic and modern games.
